Social responsibility

We have made social and environmental standards the norm. No matter where.

We live by quality, social standards and sustainability – no matter what the respective laws in force may state elsewhere in the world. Along with our suppliers, we have made a commitment to the aims and requirements of amfori. What is laid down there is a benchmark for us. As a result, we take on board social responsibility regarding fair, entrepreneurial trading as well as transparency of reporting and information. We conduct audits in the countries of our producers and suppliers in accordance with the amfori Qualification and Auditing Program.

If a supplier does not meet the requirements in the first step, we actively provide support and advice to contribute to an improvement in working conditions. In addition, we guarantee the ongoing adherence to amfori requirements utilising in-house as well as independent inspectors and their auditing procedures, including TÜV Rheinland Group, TÜV Nord/Süd Group, SGS, Bureau Veritas, Elevate, Intertek, UL VS Limited - Responsible Sourcing, ABS Quality Evaluation and ALGI.

The aims and requirements of amfori include the following, amongst others:

  • Improvement of the social standards in supplier countries
  • Adherence to all valid national laws, minimum industrial standards, ILO and UN Conventions and any other relevant legal regulations
  • A ban on child labour
  • A ban on forced labour and disciplinary measures, such as the retention of ID cards or corporal punishment
  • Guaranteed freedom of assembly and the right to collective actions – otherwise the creation of alternative opportunities for free and independent organisation
  • No discrimination in employment, pay, access to further training, promotion, the ending of the working relationship or entering retirement
  • Payment of the legal minimum wage as remuneration for standard working hours, overtime and overtime compensation or payment of suitable recompense if the minimum wage does not cover the costs of living

  • Guaranteed health and safety in the workplace
  • Adherence to the legal minimum requirements regarding environmental and safety matters
  • A management system that can guarantee adherence to the requirements of amfori
